Fort Margherita and Brooke Gallery

Built in 1879, the Fort Magherita, named after Charles Brooke’s wife, Ranee Margaret (anyone out there who wish you had a building named after yourself?), was meant to guard the river from pirates. Today, it is a landmark and has a gallery – The Brooke Gallery, where you can find artefacts from the White Rajah’s era.
